    The Mac’s user interface is deliberately slowed down to show animations. Minimise a window, and you’ll see what I mean.

    This makes it appear smoother, the cost is that most UI actions take a few milliseconds longer than they have to.

    Windows 10 shows animations for many UI actions too, though they tend to be faster and less glamorous than the Mac.

    So it’s a value judgement, you can have a UI appear a little smoother, but everything runs a tiny bit slower so you can see animations, or you can have everything run faster, but some actions will seem a little jerky.

    Personally I prefer the latter, but I understand why people prefer the former.
