What is hosting and where to host my website?
Hosting is a server space(in Mega Bytes) on which you can upload files related to your website. However, you will need domain to show your website to the internet world.
From whom should I purchase the domain in INDIA?
BlueHost, Hostgator, GoDaddy and BigRock are big names which operates in India as a Hosting and Domain provider. For WordPress I personally recommend BlueHost as they have easy installation and provide enough possibilities of customisation settings. If you are looking for easy to setup without much control over settings then go with GoDaddy. And if you are looking LOCAL INDIAN hosting provider, then I don’t have any suggestions for you.
How can i build my website using WordPress?
If you want to use your website as a blog then follow simple steps:
- Buy Domain and Hosting, if you are buying it together from same provider there is a chance that they will point domain to the hosting for you. Otherwise, hosting executive will help you with it.

- Install WordPress on your hosting. You can choose easy installation or hire someone to do it for you. Hiring someone will cost you $20 max and you will need to share you cPanel with him. Or if you have bit of cPanel knowledge you can do it too.
- Create Database, Database User (remember password)
- Download latest WordPress from WordPress.org
- Extract downloaded zip file and upload files of “wordpress” folder into your “public_html” folder, not “wordpress” folder.
- Go to your domain and follow easy installation instructions.
- Choose theme from existing themes or install new one from plenty of available as free.
- To do that go to WordPress Dashboard by adding “/wp-admin/” after your URL. e.g. http://www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin/
- Then go to Appearance >> Themes, you will find plenty of options there.
If you done everything right, then your blog should be ready. You can write new post using Visual Editor at Dashboard of your WordPress website. To write new articles aka posts, go to Posts > Add New.
