My experience as an instructor at Udemy is very bad. I have spent months building quality course about topic in demand, I am highly knowledgeable about topic, yet after 5 month I have sold exactly zero courses, with close to zero visitors.

My course is constantly located at page 15 of search results, no person ever visits results page 15. Can it be worse? I will mention that my course is subjectively better than 80% courses on page one or two displaying results in my field. Obviously Udemy doesn’t have a way to promote late entrance courses, irrelevant of their quality.

I realized Udemy promotes first-to market courses no matter their educational quality, which puts students at disadvantage because it works like a Ponzi scheme, first to market courses take all the money. This may be ok for some get rich quick scheme but for educational facility it is very bad.

It promotes educational ‘predators’ who scan most demanded topics and jump in early, no matter their knowledge about topic, which is often devastating for students. My average evaluation for bought courses is 3.5, they are often not built by experts.

As I said, system has similarity to Ponzi scheme business. Scan for unpopulated hot topics and get in as quickly as possible. Educational quality and your knowledge about topic is largely irrelevant, because people buy courses from page one of results about certain topic. Does this sound as an educational business? No

So if you are predator, my advice is scan for hot topics and educate yourself abit on Internet about topic. Then make course as fast as you can. You will soon be Jack of all Trades, but money will probably come. Voila
