The amount of time that alcohol can be detected in your system can vary depending on how much you’ve consumed, the type of test used and individual biological factors.
In general, a blood test can measure alcohol in your body for up to 6 hours after your last drink, while breathalyser tests work for between 12 and 24 hours. Urine tests, such as the ethyl glucuronide (EtG) test, are also effective for around 12 to 24 hours after use. This method tests for ethyl glucuronide, a breakdown product of ethanol – which is the alcohol you find in alcoholic beverages. Alcohol can also be detected in your hair follicles up to 90 days after consumption.

On average, women need about 1,600 to 2,400 calories each day, and men need 2,000 to 3,000 calories a day — based on age and activity level. If you figure out that you need 2,000 calories per day, then you need to keep your calorie intake about equal with that number.

To reduce your levels of bad cholesterol and triglycerides, follow a heart-healthy eating pattern. This means choosing a variety of fresh and unprocessed foods, and limiting unhealthy fats, salt and added sugar. A heart-healthy eating pattern is high in wholegrains, fibre, vitamins, minerals and healthy fats.
