Here I give the tips, advice and procedure for yoga at home and to know more information about the yoga and their benefits visit this article.

How to start yoga at home?

What do you think is the first condition for starting yoga at home? Desire .

I’m serious. Desire is what guides our efforts, and also gives them more intensity. In fact, it is the desire to practice, to continue practice, to achieve success in yoga – it is precisely the guarantee that you will succeed. I am not kidding. This conclusion I made from my own experience, as well as from the observation of people with whom I communicated and whom I taught.

Farther. If you have the desire, the next step is information, or rather knowledge, because when it comes to yoga, it’s not just information, it’s something more that will give your life a new form with new content (hopefully!).

In other words, you need to find either a book (s), or a video tutorial on yoga, or a competent teacher. For each item (and, most likely, you may need all of them) you need to choose the best one, i.e. literature, video and a yoga instructor should be “authoritative”.

There is a nuance: although, in fact, yoga is a holistic system, today it exists in a variety of styles and forms, not all of which are suitable for beginners or none at all.

So, you need to get to know different schools and yoga styles, and choose the one that you like best. “How will I be able to determine which one suits me best if I do not skate at all in yoga?” You ask. To begin with, it’s enough just to look at different styles, and try. Then you will “feel” yourself, yours or not.

Speaking of birds, we are talking about home practice, i.e. about doing yoga at home. Hence, the option with the teacher is not suitable for everyone (individual lessons can significantly alleviate your wallet, though, and the sense of them can be much more).

So, if I want to do yoga at home, first of all I need books and videos.I myself once began to study books for a long time, I shoveled a lot of literature, and I can advise the following:

    1) Yoga and the health of modern man – almost an ideal book, containing the basic exercises for yoga at home.

Its plus is that, with a small amount, it contains all the basic information (theory and practice), including the necessary basic set of yoga poses, breathing exercises (pranayama), hints on meditative technique, and – most importantly – gives an approximate practice schedule , which will be simply super-useful for people who do not have experience in yoga, and therefore, not knowing how to practice yoga at home, and how to make a schedule of their practice.

    In general, must buy!

    2) Asana. Pranayama. Wise. Bandha. – a wonderful work of Satyananda Saraswati, the founder of the Bihar school of yoga.

    The book contains a fairly large set of asanas, with a detailed description of the techniques of their implementation and the effects of exposure to the body;

sequences of execution, as well as cleaning procedures.

In addition, the book gives some examples of sequences of postures, based on which you can already make up your yoga exercises at home for beginners.

This book, in my opinion, lacks only two things:

    • Descriptions of meditation techniques
    • More system timetable for yoga

This book is good for beginners, as well as for “continuing” their practice.

    3) Yoga Deepika (BCS Iyengar) – a serious work on yoga; contains a detailed description of the performance of about 200 poses of yoga, pranayama, as well as the theoretical part. This book also provides a global yoga course for self-mastering, designed for 360 weeks, if I remember correctly. It begins literally from the very beginning, and brings you to the state of brontosaurus yoga. One of the famous yogis in the territory of the former CIS as a child diligently pored over this book, and doktor to the state of current fame. Recommended for seriously-minded beginners.

Of course, there are other books, but these are the most complete and interesting ones. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention one more – Modern view on traditional yoga therapy , under the authorship of Swami Sivananda, and in the translation of Andrei Sidersky (also a famous yogi).

The book has a special charm of yogic traditionality combined with the tooth-splitting of Sidersky’s comments. But do not worry, the book is really great. The only significant drawback is the absence of any training program. But there is an interesting therapeutic index (in the previous two, too, there is, but not so detailed, I would say so).

As for the video, that is quality material from the same Sidersky, and even from many domestic yogis. Of the foreign there are David Svenson, Sharat Rangaswami, Kali Ray and others. Here you will need to look at how specific a yoga-video suits you – both for submitting material, and for the complexity of practice. For example, hatha yoga Iyengar fits most (as, indeed, the yoga of Shivananda and Satyananda), but Ashtanga vinyasa yoga Pattabhi Jois may be somewhat “too tough” because of the emphasis on power and dynamic performance.

In short, get acquainted with the material, and be inspired by the practice.

    What else might you need?

In fact, in addition to materials on yoga, only a rug is needed; but if you have problems with flexibility and balance, you can buy various yoga-props to support and stretch. But the most important thing is to follow two important rules from the very beginning:

    • Regularity
    • Graduality

Do yoga regularly (at least 3 times a week, and preferably every day), and in no case do not force your practice.

Yoga is not a competition, it is an individual way of developing the body and consciousness. Yoga is the way in which you form a new self (or a new self). If you go too fast, you can skip a lot of interesting things. True, if you can hardly drag along it or not move at all, you can never get to more interesting things. Here I have set out the necessary information, and now you should already have an idea of how to start doing yoga at home. So go ahead and with the song!
